Katie Gray

Influenced by folk musicians, jazzy divas and her East Indian roots, Katie is a unique musician with an incredible sound. A soulful strength dancing from this tender world and others, her music takes listeners deep within and far, far away. A folky 4-cord progression, trickled with an Indian chant, followed up by a jazzy skat, all while speaking genius lycrics about the state of the world and the love it contains.

Born in D.C., raised in Michigan, Katie moved alone to the west coast at 17 years old. She spent four years in the acting industry in Hollywood studying stage performance. When her soul began to fade she moved to an Island off the coast of Seattle where she resides playing music. "I have seen some dark days, and I have no regrets for a single one. It is necessary to taste the darkness in order to appreciate the light."

When asked what music has most influenced her "Paul Simon, Sade, Bill withers and maybe Cat Power." What sets her apart from everyone else? There is an undescribable poise to Katie. A wisdom that glows in her eyes and a gentle nuturing strength to her being. She has the ability to bring her pindrop audience to tears or to the dancefloor. Her lyrics are intricately intelligent yet easy for a vast variety of people to understand. People of all ages can relate to her warming messages of love and perseverence, a gentle, but powerful young musician.
